Why it happens
Stroke can damage sensory pathways in the brain, alter how pain signals are processed, or lead to secondary issues such as muscle tightness or joint strain.
How common
Possible management
Pain management strategies, medications, physical therapy, stretching, and working with healthcare providers to identify the type of pain.
Not uncommon—many stroke survivors experience some form of ongoing pain during recovery.
