What it is
Difficulty controlling the movements of the eyes.
How it shows up
Trouble tracking moving objects, difficulty focusing, jerky eye movements, problems reading, or eyes that don’t move together properly.
Why it happens
Stroke affects the brain regions or cranial nerves responsible for coordinating eye movement.
How common
Possible management
Vision therapy, eye movement exercises, prism glasses, and guidance from a neuro-optometrist or vision specialist.
Can occur depending on stroke location, especially with brainstem or cranial nerve involvement.
