What it is
Reduced strength or control in muscles due to impaired signals from the brain.
How it shows up
Difficulty lifting or moving parts of the body, reduced grip strength, slower movements, or trouble performing everyday tasks.
Why it happens
Stroke disrupts the brain pathways that control voluntary muscle movement.
How common
Possible management
Physical therapy, strengthening exercises, repetitive task training, and assistive devices when needed.
Very common after stroke and often affects one side of the body.
