Kinesthetic impairment
Tips from survivors: “I watch my movements closely—my eyes help guide what I can’t feel.”
What it is

How it shows up
Trouble knowing where an arm or leg is without looking, difficulty coordinating movements, or feeling disconnected from how the body moves.
Why it happens
Stroke affects the brain’s sensory and proprioceptive pathways that help the body understand movement and position.
How common
Possible management
Physical and occupational therapy, proprioceptive training, visual cues, and repetitive movement practice.
