Why it happens
Stroke disrupts the brain’s ability to regulate emotional expression, often involving connections between emotional centers.
How common
Fairly common after stroke and often associated with pseudobulbar affect.
Possible management
Medication, emotional awareness strategies, and educating others to understand what’s happening.
