What it is

Sudden or frequent episodes of crying that may feel difficult to control.

How it shows up

Crying triggered by small events—or sometimes no clear reason at all—and not always matching how you actually feel emotionally.

Why it happens

Stroke can affect emotional regulation in the brain, and may also be linked to conditions like pseudobulbar affect.

How common

Fairly common after stroke, especially in the early stages of recovery.

Possible management

Emotional support, counseling, medication if needed, and understanding triggers or patterns.
