What it is

Why it happens
Stroke can affect muscle strength, coordination, balance, and motor control needed for normal walking.
How common
Very common, especially when the stroke affects movement or balance systems.
Possible management
Physical therapy, gait training, strengthening exercises, balance training, and assistive devices such as canes, walkers, or braces.
