Why it happens

Stroke can affect brain regions involved in motivation and goal-directed behavior, particularly in the frontal lobes.

How common

Fairly common after stroke and often associated with apathy or executive dysfunction.

Possible management

Structured routines, breaking tasks into small steps, gentle prompting, and behavioral activation strategies.
