What it is
A tremor caused by damage to the cerebellum, the part of the brain responsible for coordination and precision.
How it shows up
Shaking that worsens when trying to reach for something or perform a movement (intention tremor), making tasks like eating, writing, or buttoning clothes difficult.
Why it happens
Stroke affects the cerebellum or its pathways, disrupting the brain’s ability to fine-tune and coordinate movement.
How common
Less common, typically seen in strokes involving the cerebellum.
Possible management
Occupational and physical therapy, adaptive tools (weighted utensils, stabilizing supports), and sometimes medication.
