Stroke can affect brain regions responsible for emotion, judgment, and self-control, as well as how someone copes with a major life event.
How common
Fairly common, though the type and severity vary widely between individuals.
Possible management
Counseling, behavioral therapy, structured routines, medication when appropriate, and education for family and caregivers.
