Why it happens

Stroke can affect brain regions involved in reward, motivation, and emotional processing, and may overlap with depression.

How common
Possible management

Counseling or therapy, medication when appropriate, gradually reintroducing enjoyable activities, and structured routines.

Not always identified on its own, but relatively common as part of post-stroke emotional changes.
