What it is

How it shows up
Forgetting recent conversations, misplacing items, repeating questions, or difficulty learning new information.
Why it happens
Stroke can damage areas of the brain involved in memory, such as the hippocampus or surrounding networks.
How common
Possible management
Memory aids (notes, alarms, apps), structured routines, cognitive therapy, and repetition strategies.
Fairly common, especially short-term memory issues in early recovery.
